Chevening 2020-2021

Uzbek Lawy...

Dear Friends,

It's almost that time of the year when Chevening decides on its short-list for interview. So, let's start this thread and keep each other informed.

Who has received rejection letters in the first round?

I am quite unacquainted with their timeline; haven’t heard back from them since submitting my application. Thank you for the idea of opening this thread :) I’ll make sure to let you know of any developments on my end.

There was a twit from CFO saying that longlisting results have already been sent to Embassies and shortlisting results will be communicated in early to mid February.

Hi everyone,
even though it says this is a Master of Laws Programs (which is not even closely my field) - it seems it is the only place I have found online with people talking about the Chevening 2020/21.

Neither have I received anything about the interview. On the website, under the Application TImeline sections says that shortlisting for an interview will happen Early to Mid-February.

Fingers crossed!

p.s. I just had my last University interview via Skype today, and I am conditionally accepted to all of my three choices.

Hey, mate!

If you had subscribed to the Alphagram, you would have known that they will let you know on the shortlisting results starting from February 15. This is the period you will see some changes in your profile. They will invite you to choose interview dates and notify about LoR submission deadline, which is February 25.

P.s. Did you know that one in three of successful cheveners are applying more than one time? So, even if we don't get it this year (and other options also don't work out) I think there is pretty bold chance to come, try again and be selected next cycle.

Just received a horrid email which says that I didn’t meet the eligibility requirements. This can’t be otherwise than a mistake. Very frustrating news.

I received the same email, and I am confident it is a mistake. I dont know what to do now, I guess there is nothing to do at this point, but it says a lot about the process.

I’ve been going over and over the submitted application and I am unable to find any errors. Trying to remain as calm and non-judgemental as possible but I’ve seen less qualified candidates from my country being awarded this scholarship, and for less prestigious institutions than those from which I have received offers.

Finarfin, zunogaf, though I understand your concern, I believe there is no option now but wait for other programs to respond to your applications. As chevening states, around one-third of all chevening places offered go to the applicants applying 2nd or 3rd time. Wish you all the good luck with other universities!

What countries are you from?

Dear friends,

I have received a letter confirming my progress to the interview stage. Interviews are to be held between March 24 - April 8. The decisions about interview results will be communicated starting late May to mid June. I have already fullfilled language requirements and uploaded LoR. Just waiting for the interview date. Any tips?

congrats on being shortlisted for an interview. Would you mind sharing your GPA and which law school did you go to? and where have you applied in the UK? And after you complete the interview would you mind sharing what sort of questions they have asked you. I am planning to apply next year.
