University of Vienna or University of Kent Brussels School of Law

Lelde89

Hello everyone,

I recently got accepted in University of Vienna for my LLM European and International Business Law program and still waiting for University of Kent Brussels School of Law to get back to me, so I was wondering maybe there are anyone who are studying in one of these universities, who might give me some suggestions or share with their experience as there are not a lot of information available on the internet.
Vienna for me sounds more exciting, as they have very good reputation as I have red. The only thing, which concerns me about studies in Vienna is work experience in international field as I have chosen to do part-time course in order to get some work experience done while I am studying, but not sure how easy it is going to be for me as I cannot speak German yet. Maybe someone know, if there are any student support services, who might help with that? I also was wondering how is the student life in Vienna for foreign students as it is always scary to go to a place where English is not its native language..
Speaking about University of Kent Brussels Schools of Law, it seems for me that it might be easier for me to find a good work experience in Brussels as the main international and European organizations are based there, although I am not sure that Brussels is the place where I would like to live for next 2 years.
I hope anyone, who have ever studied or are at the moment in one of these universities could give some suggestions or share with their own experience about the university and student life there.

Hi,

I'am actully from Vienna and I am just finishing my law degree (I am not a LLM student) and don't know much about the LLM Programe at our faculty. I just know that Prof. August Reinisch is quite famous in internaional law, and he is also a nice guy, I had my oral examination in international law in March with Prof. Reinisch. If you need some informations about specific Prof. espacelly in europaen law send me a privat message ( some are not so nice guys g), and I don't want to make it public.

If you need specific help with jobs etc.. their is the Law student union which you can contact at www.fvjus.at (forget the normal student union from the general university (they are mor poltical than student service and don't have so much informations.)

I personaly would recomand you to contact some big law firms in Austria, because it's common that they hire students during theirs studys, in your case only big law firms because it's common for them to work in english schöhnherr, Wolf Theiss, Freshfields, Dorda Brugger Jordis, Fellner Wratzfeld Partner etc.

About the student life, the truth is it's a mass university I think around 2000 freshers begin each year, and most of them work during studys, so it's deffenitly not a campus university where you will automaticly make a lot of friends.

Also most students in Austria are not like hey come have a drink with us, if they don't know somebody.

I personelly will go to the UK for a LLM because I want to have a really university campus student expirence. If it's about student life I would not really recomand it.

Cheers
