Hi there,
I would greatly appreciate if anyone could explain what the following line at my personal page on studera.nu means:
SG-INT MR-10 for ICA program and SG-INT MR-9,999 for European law program.
I am still waiting for results and wish good luck for those of you who have not admitted yet !!!

Hi AnVi,

I am in the same situation as well. Did you able to get any further info on MR's and SG's??

Hi everyone!

I am interested in the Master in International Commercial Arbitration in Sweden and was wondering how much the program costs in US dollars? Also are there any special recommendations that one needs to apply? I have already graduated from law school in the states and will be sitting for the bar exam so I can be licensed to practice in the states. I think all you need is a degree from a law school. If someone could get back to me. My email is: ewelinamroczka@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Stockholm is free but not the best. Have a look to the MIDS program of Geneva.

As I wrote in another discussion I don't agree. I would say that the Stockholm programme is way better than the Geneva one for a number of reasons:

(i) it is 8-year old, while the MIDS is new and, as such, a question mark;

(ii) it focuses on "international commercial arbitration", while with MIDS you are forced to study remotely-related subjects like International Trade or stuff like that;

(iii) the seriousness of the ICAL derives also from the fact that it is not customizable; you want to learn arbitration? This is it, everyone will get the same level of preparation;

(iv) the professors at Stockholm are exclusively dedicated to commercial arbitration while at MIDS you have about 30 speakers and you don't really know who your reference is;

(v) the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce administers more international commercial arbitration cases than Geneva;

(vi) it will allow you to work part-time during the second semester;

(vii) it will save you about 17,000 EURO!

(viii) it is MUCH more selective, also as a result of (i) and (vii) above;

And so on.

Hi,

I'm an American J.D. student currently on exchange in Copenhagen. My focus is ICA and I would like to apply for the LLM in Stockholm for 2010-2011 (this site has been great for helping me figure out where to apply).

I would like to know how any of you are finding the program. I will take a trip up by year's end to see Stockholm, but am eager to hear some feedback on the curriculum if you have a moment.

Thanks in advance!
Brian

Hey guys,

From this post it seems quite apparent that some of you would have secured the Masters from MIDS. I have been offered admission there (applicant from India) and before I accept, I was wondering if you could be kind enough to answer some of my queries:

i. What is the system of aid? Now that I have received an admission offer, should I send them an email requesting for aid?Their website simply says to contact them on email regarding aid.

ii. While it is beyond doubt that the Program has exceptional faculty, does that really lead to anything concrete in terms of job opportunities upon completion of the Program? Do the professors offer jobs to the students of the Program?

iii. How reputed is the program? Is it well appreciated in Geneva? While I understand this would be difficult to gauge considering that only one batch of students is actually "in the market", what is the general review of the Program?

Are any job fairs/placements conducted? How easy is it to get a job in an international law firm situated in Geneva? What about internships in the WTO?

I have to convey my acceptance soon, so guys, please respond as soon as you can!

the Stockholm arbitration llm seems great! I participated at the Willem C. Vis arbitration several years in the past and I was impressed to see that students from this univ. were very very well prepared.

I would like to study there, however I don't know what are the perspectives after you graduate an LLM in Sweden. Can you, for example, get a contract at a lawfirm there? Can you take the bar there or take an exam similar to the UK qltt? Is Swedish language mandatory for practising law in Sweden?

All in all, I am under the impression that even though the LLM may be good and well reputed, there is no direct benefit in the long term. Anyone can tell me different?

Anyone of you guys can tell me if there is preferable date to apply for the LLM (commercial arbitration)?? I ask this because in the UK for example, it is advisable to send your application way before the expiry of the deadline. Is this applicable for Sweden?
