Hey guys,
I have a question about LLM international Business Tax Law at Tilburg University:
I have applied to Masstrich International and European Tax law Programme and to Tilburg University. I have been accepted to Tilburg, but I have a problem.
A friend of mine has been studying at this programme, and he said he was very disappointed.
He said the professors are very unprofessional and their level of English is very low (according to him, sometimes it is even hard to understand the lecture because of very poor English). There are also some strange compulsory subjects you must take, that have nothing to do with the law, where you learn how to make promo videos and how to tell story and stuff like that. He said that he passed all the exams but still he had very bad knowledge of tax law at the end of the year. He said wheat ever you do dont waste money and time on this programme.
Does anyone have any experience with this programme? Or with Maastricht?
Thank you

Hey Petross,
If I was in your shoes, I would definitely choose Maastricht University. Not just because it is better at every ranking but also because i also have once studied at Tilburg International Business Tax Law program.
The programme consists of 7 compulsory subjects, of which only two could actually be called academic subjects. That is VAT Law and International and European law. All the others seemed just like a waste of time. Sometimes even professors didn't know what they were talking about. During my studies, It felt like a joke. We had to learn things by heart from powerpoint slides (WTF) and recite them on the exam. There were almost no real-life case studies, just theory. And yes we had two courses that didn't have anything to do with tax law (they call it interdisciplinary study haha). Dont believe everything you read on the webpage because of it's all just hardcore marketing.
I feel bad that I waisted 2000 euros on this master, but i feel even worse for my friends from outside EU who spent 16000.
All in all, If I would be in a position to choose again, I would definitely choose Maastricht University,
Hope this helps,
Good luck

Thank you, Tyler for your answer.
I will definitely be choosing Maastricht, as I noticed on many forums that it triumphs Tilburg programme in every way. I also noticed that in Tilburg they don't even teach transfer pricing, which i heard is one of the most important subjects in the international tax area, and in Maastricht they have a special course devoted specifically to this topic. I dont understand this because Tilburg focuses on business taxation (or so they say on their webpage) and transfer pricing is an essential part of the field. I guess my friend really was right haha. At first, I couldn't believe the things he was saying, but I don't want to bet so much money to find it out myself.
Best regards
