MIDS 2019-2020

Has anyone else from India has received an offer?

I received an offer from MIDS via email yesterday at 09:59 AM (CET) but my application portal still says “Application received: complete” and “Requested - file received: complete”

Is anyone else facing the same issue? Although I understand that only admission notification received by regular post is binding.

Also, has anyone received an update on the scholarship applications that would be forwarded to the foundations?

Has everyone here received a confirmation on their status (Accepted/Waitlisted/Rejected)? Or is there someone whose application is still under consideration?

Although the activity on LLM Guide is no criteria to judge the demand for a programme, I find the MIDS 2019-20 board too dull compared to previous years. Any thoughts?

Hi Ghost of Bhatia,

I was admitted, but am still waiting for the decision on the Young ICCA scholarship and the decisions from Miami Law School and Science Po. I share your concern as to the demand for the programme. I am wondering whether the programme remains as popular as it was several years ago considering that, as far as I understand, Ms Kaufmann-Kohler does not deliver lectures on the general course anymore and Messrs Gaillard and Paulsson left the faculty. Nonetheless, I have heard that at least some candidates were put into the waiting list, so I assume demand still exceeds supply.

Congratulations on the offer, Fitzmaurice and fingers crossed for the MIDS-Young ICCA Scholarship.

I understand that GKK's retirement is a big factor but it's hardly surprising that Gaillard (LLM in TADS, Sciences Po) and Paulsson (W&C Int'l Arb LLM, UMiami) left to develop their own programmes.

However, it is my understanding is that the supply still exceeds the demand, by a fairly high margin. The MIDS is still the most competitive of all specialised programmes but I think what has affected the programme in the recent years is the number of scholarships they were able to offer (HW Foundation, which has been supporting MIDS since its inception in 2008, has stopped sponsoring). This has gravely affected the quality of students, with many offer-holders in the first list (without financial aid) reconsidering if they should self-finance their studies in Geneva or look for an alternative school offering some form of financial aid.

Hi everyone!!!

I just received an email from admissions office that my application for scholarship is granted by a specific foundation. Scholarship will cover 50% of the tuition fees. My status checker for scholarship application hasn't changed though. Anyway, they said they would be sending out detailed emails for scholarship soon.

Has anyone else received the email??? So excited!

i received my admission offer on 21st February.

Thank you.

Congratulations Rosmy! May I know where you are from?

It looks like MIDS is not involved in any decision making on scholarships except nominating students to the foundations. So it depends from foundation to foundation, how and exactly when they take their decisions and of course, the amount of support they wish to grant to a particular student.

I have heard that this year the process is somewhat different from the previous years when they would straightaway grant scholarships right on the day of admission results. I could see only one person on this forum who has been nominated.

Has anyone else heard from MIDS regarding the MIDS-managed scholarships? They had stated in the offer letter that they would inform us "by April 2019".
