hey i studied in Maastricht during my erasmus year last year it was amazing - the uni courses are really well organised, i dont know if u have sorted out accomodation yet but i would recommend the guesthouse it is so nice and so much fun but quite expensive, it is so sociable just all the international students under one roof!i have been accepted into the MIC programme starting sept 2006 but havent made a final decision yet - if u have any more maastricht questions let me know!

I studied in MAastricht for three years European Studies and also took some courses at the law Faculty. EC Migration Law and Citizenship and Minority Rights in the EU. They weren't part of my programme; part of my programme were substantial law and EC Institutions, probably you'll have to take them as well. Maastricht is a nice and cozy city, though quite small, if you study there for 3 years. If you need to save money, look for accomodation in Belgium, especially Kanne is nice. Furthermore, watch out that there are many Germans (I am German, too, but I did not like the fact of so many compatriots being there;-))

Maastricht is not a very expensive city compared to the large cities in the west of the Netherlands, but still pricey compared to other west european countries. If you're willing to spend 250-300 a month on a room, you'll have no problem finding a proper place to stay.
If you're really into saving money, you will have no problem finding great lodgings in neighboring Belgian cities for much lower prices. If you do, be prepared to bike a good 20 minutes to and from the university.
Transportation is cheap if you want it to be cheap, since it's perfectly possible to bike around the city. Sports facilities are also inexpensive; yearly membership costs some 50-60, and allows you to participate at a wide range of different sports either for free or for a very reduced price.
