My visa was rejected!!!
It's so stressful, I've been dealing with that for the last 2 weeks...I have to leave Washington on Saturday and I still don't have a visa...The Swedish Immigration Board changed the rules about sponsors after I had applied and they rejected my application. They asked me to have my mom transfer all that $ into my account in such a short period of time, which I did, and I still have no response on the appeal...I am so disappointed and stressed...i really don't know what's gonna happen or if i will be able to go to Lund anymore

Armando, it's horrible!! I can't understand this! If you're admitted to the Uni, what's the problem? I'm lucky, because I'm EU citizen and I don't need a visa, but after three month I will have to prove that I have enough money or a job to be able finance my stay in Sweden. I've no job here in Hungary, I've hired my flat, and maybe I won't be able to stay there either, because getting a job or a scholarship seems to me very difficult.
I cross my fingers for you Armando, and hope we meet in Lund. Don't give up!!

No worries Armando!! Some of my friends application (for other countries like UK or us) was also rejected in the past. It just shows that there is a document or something missing. That's all. Don't panic, I'm sure that we'll see u in Lund!

Hello!!!
You are the first! Tell us everything about Lund! :-)))
I'll arrive on the 28th.
I'm very lucky because the former tenant left the furniture in the room so we don't have to carry the items! However you can send me your number! :) It could be useful, especially in the first days.
A great week to you as well!!

Armando, what kind of room will you get? Is it a corridor room in a campus, or a privat accommodation?
Would you seek a job, or now you have your financial background? My first "project" in Lund is to find out wether I can apply for a scholarship for the next spring semester or not. I have bought 2 books for the first course, they are very heavy, so my luggage will be heavy too :))

Hello guys!
Cigdem...are u coming for arrival day? have u registered for the introductory program? r u gettinga room on Monday too? from IHO?
Satine, I am getting a room in an international corridor, they are quite expensive but I did't know so I am planning to find something else as soon as I can...something cheaper even a shared accommodation if possible. I have talked to my friend Jennie and she says she will try and help me find a job...i am gonna be pretty broke for these whole 2 years....so I need to work if I don't want to starve to death or end up homeless...we will try to find something togethere if u want
I sent both of you my new Swedish number so you can call me when u r here
cheers!

Hey,
Thanks for the number, I'll send you mine (cell phone) too.
Yes I'll be broken as well, so I need at the beginning. we should try to find something together. Or we can dancing and singing on the street together! :-) I can dance! :-))
My room is in Deplhi, a corridor room. I think it is not very expensive, but not the chepest (2680 SEK), but I have an own bathroom.
cheers,
E.

Hiii!!
Armando I got ur number, thanks a lot!! I will arrive next monday (arrival day). I didn't register for the introductory program because I didn't want to pay for it. But I really want to participate to free swedish courses, so I'll try to get some information about it. I guess I will get the room on my arrival day, a room from IHO. They are quite expensive but this is the best for the beginning I think.
See you soon guys!!

Hey cigdem!
I talked to Hanna today and she told me about the free Swedish classes. They r for immigrants but we can take them as well. We just need to get a personal identification Swedish number and then with that we can go to the place where they teach Swedish to Immigrants. I have the info if you need it. I will also be able to tell where to go to get ur number because I am going tomorrow during the day.
I can't wait for arrival day, I heard there is a party and lots of activities. Since I didn't register for the introductory activities either, i wonder if ew can still attend some of their events! Oh well, we'll have to ask when we go get our keys I guess!

Hello everybody,
I am more and more excited.... Armando, I'm very interested in the free svedish class either. I heard that we can take 2 free courses at the Folksuniversitat (typical school in Scandinavian, with different courses) with our letter of acceptance. But I think it is a different opportunity. I will go to the tax office on my first day to have the personal number too, but I would be very happy if you informed me about the procedure Armando!

I went to apply for my swedish identification number...it takes about 2 minutes to do it...I got lost before getting there because the map I had wasn't that good. I walked by the office at the beginning and then I went and made a big turn around the block. Anyway, I will show u guys where it is when u get here :) they say it takes 10 days to get the number in the mail
Posted Aug 16, 2007 21:55
it sounds good! I hope it is easier to get this number than get a corridor room... :-))
So we will need an umbrella and a good map :-))
