LLM for foreign student

Hello everybody! I am a Russian law bachelor student with excellent GPA and work experience for 4 years. I plan to get an LLM to work in Europe, but not in Russia anyway. So, my question is-how much opportunities will I have to hold a high-paid job with LLM, even though I have a bachelor degree in Russian law, which is totally different? I prefer to studyinternational or European law, therefore, I schedule to work in some kind of international firm, not such as practical lawyer.
Anyway, what is more profitable-to work in firm or be practice lawyer in country I've studied? What is more difficult-to be a lawyer in company or practice lawyer after LLM, if I'm a foreign student
Thank you very much

jobs in law firms of europien countries are quite tough anfter LLM if u dont have good experience and a LLM from top law schools and demonstrate good understanding of law. u should do it to add value addition to ur existing qualifications rather than targeting jobs in foreign land. i think......

Hi there,

Having your LLM degree does not automatically make you qualified to practice in a foreign countries, unless you have gone through their BAR exams. As the LLM itself is more for academic profession rather than to be a practicioner lawyer. Neverthelesss, If have earned your Diploma in Legal Practice (DLP) as how it worsk in the UK then you can practice. I heard that having an DLP from the UK (England specially) will make you eligible to practice in other countries which were used to be British colonies (not sure, please check it out for your own details).

As your interest in more on European law, I would rather suggest to seek for a job with the International Organizations (e.g WTO) upon the completion of your LLM studies.

All the best,

cheers

Thanks a lot Actually, I really would like to work for some kind of international firm, so the main question is-how hard will it be to get a quite high paid job and stay to live in European country (I prefer Scandinavia, but it's not important right now), NOT return back in Russia, IF I get only LLM after Russian law undergraduate degree, which is totally different law system and useless in Europe in fact? Is it really possible to pass BAR exam after LLM? Or for best career should I get European bachelor degree anyway, which is quite expensive and time wasting
