Leiden LL.M in Adv. Int. Tax Law. ?

Anyone heard anything? I applied in January and no response. I had not realized they would take this long, I've already missed some deadlines for offers from other unis. I wonder if this is normal for them? Also anyone know the approximate acceptance rate or class size? Very limited info on their website. Thank you.

"Because of a fundamental issue that arose, ITC Leiden will – different from what was announced on the ITC website earlier - not offer in the forthcoming 2019-2020 academic year in cooperation with the Global School for Entrepreneurship its existing Adv LLM in International Tax Law (ITL) program nor its new Adv LLM in Transfer Pricing program. As a result of this development, ITC Leiden has recently decided to start operating – effective September 2019 - on a more independent basis and to acquire the status of a special type of academic entity under Dutch law (`Legal Person for Higher Education’). This status will enable ITC to offer in the future accredited Adv LLM programs under its own name and to have visas issued for such programs. Obtaining that status requires a procedure that ITC hopes to complete in 12 months. As a consequence, ITC – not being such an entity yet - will not be able to offer in the forthcoming 2019-2020 academic year its usual accredited Adv LLM International Tax Law (ITL) program. Instead, ITC will offer in the Fall of 2019 an 11-week combined Fundamentals – Tax Treaties course and in the Spring of 2020 a series of Transfer Pricing courses.

From September 2020 on, ITC Leiden plans to start offering again its existing Adv LLM program in International Tax Law, along with the new full-year Adv LLM program in Transfer Pricing for Multinational Enterprises

Fall 2019: Fundamentals – Tax Treaties course

In the Fall of 2019 ITC offers a combined Fundamentals – Tax Treaties course of 11 weeks. Students that pass the exam of this course will be awarded an ITC Fundamentals - Tax Treaties Course Certificate. If these students later enroll in ITC’s Adv LLM Program in International Tax Law, they will receive a full academic and financial credit for the combined course taken.

The tuition fee for this combined course is € 8,000. The course will be held in the period 30 September – 13 December 2019, with the (final) exam on Monday 16 December 2019. Application deadline is: 1 August 2019. Further information on the combined Fundamentals – Tax Treaties course, including how to register for this course, will be posted on the ITC website shortly.

Spring 2020: series of Transfer Pricing courses

In the months of January and February 2020 the following two courses from the ITL Adv LLM curriculum will be given:

> Basic Transfer Pricing - 4 weeks: 6 January – 3 February 2020, and

> Advanced Transfer Pricing - 4 weeks: 6 February – 6 March.

In the months thereafter, ITC will offer a series of short specialized Transfer Pricing courses that are selected from the Adv LLM program in Transfer Pricing for Multinational Enterprises. The subjects of these courses will be announced and posted on the ITC website shortly.

Also for the Basic and Advanced TP courses and for each of the specialized courses, students that pass the exam at the end of the course will receive an ITC Course Certificate. And upon enrolling later in ITC’s Adv LLM Program either in International Tax Law or in Transfer Pricing for Multinational Enterprises an academic and financial credit will be given for any course completed successfully.

The tuition fee of each of the Basic and Advanced TP courses is € 3,000, and application deadline is 15 November 2019. The dates and fees for the specialized courses will be posted on the ITC website along with the announcement of the subjects of these courses

Options

For those of you who were planning to enroll in the forthcoming academic year (2019-2020) in the Adv LLM ITL, as this full-year program will not be available this coming academic year as is explained above, we suggest that you consider the following two options:

A. enroll this coming Fall (2019) in the 11-week Fundamentals – Tax Treaties course and/or in the Spring of 2020 in both or either of the two Transfer Pricing courses (each comprising 4 weeks). And in the 2020-2021 academic year you enroll in the remaining courses of the ITL Adv LLM program (if you have taken in 2019-2020 the earlier mentioned three courses from the ITL Adv LLM program: the remaining courses will be given in the period March-August 2021). When all course exams are successfully and timely passed, you will receive your Adv LLM degree in August 2021;

B. defer your enrollment until September 2020 when the full-year 2020-2021 Adv LLM ITL program will start.

If you decide not to enroll in any of the courses offered in the Fall 2019 and/or Spring 2020 and you have earlier paid the € 200 registration fee to ITC Leiden, please inform us (admission@itc-leiden.nl) with proof of payment and we will refund this fee to you.

For any questions on the courses listed above or on ITC Leiden in general, please contact us at admission@itc-leiden.nl."
