Hello Everybody!
I applied for the CoE in Bruges and I am waiting for a response. Any other Italian who applied in the past years and can give me an advice on how to handle my interview in April?
Thanks!

I PMed you... Check your Inbox.
For everybody: I have been called for an interview on the 5th of March. This year they started much earlier it seems. Is this a good sign?
Ciao,
Aris

Hi,
may I ask you how was the interview? I am from the Czech Republic and the Czech interviews will be held quite late - April 17th. I guess it is also because there are very few applicants to the College from this country... Did you have to speak French a lot? I have to admit that French is my weak point too, I lived and studied in France few years ago but my knowledge has faded out since then so I am a bit afraid...

Hey!
I'm going to Stockholm for an interview on March 28th. I know that for Swedish students they tend to be less rigorous on the French part of the interview. However, they will make you take French lessons before you start if they consider you need to. So don't be too nervous!
I'd also like to know what kind of questions you got guys! thanks!

Hello, interviews in Warsaw -> April 8th
Somebody told me that they analyse various details of your CV and ask to discuss some legal issues. They easily switch between English and French.
Bonne chance / good luck!

Hey all,
I am Greek and have been invited for an interview in April.
Is there any advise or feedback you can give me from your interviews?
In addition, is the interview a typical procedure after the pre-selection or is it highly probable that u won't be admitted?
Just asking, because I am thinking of applying to other universities as well, but they have an application fee and I would prefer to save this money, if my admission is quite "guarantied" .
Thanks in advance.
And hope to be to join your company next year!!

The French people sure are young. Some even 21! How is it possible to be a lawyer at such an young age in France?
I guess at 27 I will be one of the oldest...
Does somebody knows the average age in Bruges? I think it also depends on educational sistems. Alas Italian and German students will be older.

I am a ancien of the Coe -former alumni-
I come from Spain and I can tell you how the process is carried out here. It is for the National Ministries of Foreign Affairs to embark upon the selection procedures. In Spain the selection is nowadays carried by the AECI (Spanish Agency for International Cooperation)
There will be three people at the interview: A gouvernment official, the Academic Director of the CoE -probably Mr. Monforti and a second person related to the College, normally a national Professor who was once alumni at the College.
They will make some questions on EU matters and will make you show your areas of interest. If you are going to the legal department it is highly beneficial for you to follow latest depevelopments of the EU court -recent and relevant past case law.
They focuse very much on your skills to fit in a very international environment and your capacity to develop links with students of very different nature and origins.
I wish you the best of lack !!! You are going to enjoy the most exciting year of your life. The year at the Coe shall be difficult to forget

Hey all!
I had my interview on Friday in Stockholm. There were three people at the interview: a government official, Mrs Chang from the CoE and a Swedish professor. I got many law-related questions about the three pillars, the lack of democracy in the UE, the institutions etc. In the end, they were all pretty much linked to the Treaty of Lisbon. I guess it's this years theme. They did ask me about my motivation, but not that much really. They even seemed to think I had already studied too much European Law and asked me why I wanted to spend another year studying European Law at the CoE. Hope they wont reject my application because of that.
They told me they would give me an answer by mid May as they continue their selection in April. Considering the fact that there aren't many applicants from Sweden I don't know if that's true. Could anyone tell me for how long one has to wait to receive an answer after the interview? I really need to know as I've been admitted to other universities and need to decide where to go next year.
Thank you and good luck!

I'm still waiting so it's very normal. The fact that they asked you why did you want study at Coleurope when you already have enough education in the field is a tipical question don't worry.
As for the fact that they asked you about the Lisbon Treaty is a bit strange, but problably they asked you very simple question as they refrain from asking technical questions. They just wanted to see if you were interested.
Patience, we have to wait!! Here in Italy the news should come in April, I don't know when.

Thank you Aristotelis! You're always very helpful!
Well the questions weren't really about the Treaty, but I had to speak about the Treaty as it will change a certain amount things which I got questions about, for example the pillars.
I want an answer now!
When did French students have their interviews? Could be interesting to know as they've already gotten an answer.

Hey!
I don't you should worry! I know a girl who was admitted even though she couldn't answer a question at all.
A friend of mine, who went to the CoE a few years ago, also told me that they do not expect you to be able to answer every question or to know everything about European law. Otherwise it wouldn't make any sense studying at the CoE!

Thank you very much :))) I hope that you are right because I am really very stressed! We have to wait one month to see the results. And I really hope that they will take into account all the academic background and the motivation and not only the interview. Good luck to everyone!
