Best French legal program

Hi--

I'm a JD candidate at Harvard Law School who wishes to do a semester abroad, preferably in France. This would not be an LLM program but rather just one semester. My French is decent but not fluent, though I could probably raise it to fluency fairly quickly. My question is this: where should I go? My main interest is in corporate law, but I'd like to meet people with diverse interests. Also, I'd like to be somewhere that won't bury me with work to the extent that I don't get to enjoy (presumably) Paris.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
RedCabana

Hi,

I think it will be difficult for you to come here and just study for one semester since there are no degree for only one semester.

You may appy for LLM in French and European Community Law at the University of Paris 1 Sorbonne or for a Master 2 Professionnel Droit des affaires (corporate). Each universities around Paris has such a program but it is highly competitive. If your French is fluent enough, I advise you to apply for these ones.

I'd advise you to apply for the DESS in Droit de la Glboalisation Economique. This program is run in conjunction with Sciences Po, and is not bad. Also, about half the classes are in English and the exams can be written in English as well, so fluency is not required. You will, however, have a hard time if you don't have a pretty good level of french already.
