Aussie looking abroad for an LLM

capa

Hello,
I'm from Australia and would like to study for my LLM in Europe. I only speak English (I am illiterate in Italian) so can anyone please suggest any good LLM programs? Also, will my Italian citizenship mean anything or must I be a "resident" and live in Europe to be a "home" student? (I have never lived in Europe).

Thanks very much for any help.

Hello Angelo,

as far as your Italian citizenship is concerned, I have no idea (I could imagine that "home students" are only students who are already studying at a particular University, however, I am not sure) but maybe I can help you with the selection of an LLM program. First of all, which countries would you eventually prefer? And what kind of program are you interested in (Taxation, Business)?
We have quite a lot LLM programs here in Europe and many of them are taught in English. A good thing is also that they are not very expensive if you compare it to the US. Have you considered the UK? And what about the Netherlands (I am applying there)?

@ Angelo:

Whether you can be treated as a home student? Perhaps just ask a PR person of a university in Europe.

Be aware that the ability of speaking English is still not widespread among Professors in quite a number of European countries. In Southern European countries it is in general much worse than in the Northern European countries. This applies especially to the Netherlands and the Dutch (Flemish) speaking part of Belgium, but also to some extent for Germany, Norway and for instance Sweden.
