Hi, I would really appreciate it if someone could give me an advice: I am going to finish my Bachelor Degree in Law from a Swiss University next year and I wish to do a LLM in International Law in the United Kingdom or Holland. If I would like to qualify to work as a lawyer in the United States, I'd normally have to do the JD-Degree, followed by the Bar-Examination right? But is there a possibility to take an accelerated degree or a preparatory course for the Bar Exam, since I'd have a LLM by that time?

Hi! From what I heard on this forum, with some preperation you can sit for California Bar exam as a foreign lawyer. For the NY Bar you would need to get some credit hours (20 or 24, cant remember which), which is typically 2 semesters of study, from a US law school, before you become eligible to sit the NY Bar.
I'd suggest to read some of the threads here for more clear guidance. Some threads (eg "Best JD for Foreign Attorney") might be particularly useful. There was also a more specific discussion about CAL bar requirements. You might want to read that too.
best of luck!
