Hi
Does anyone have experience in going through the evaluation of the NY bar exam as a common law background lawyer? My problem is that I am qualified in China and Australia, but I am admitted in Australia by doing a Diploma in law program part time which is not a JD. Wondering if I am able to get an exemption from taking the 8 units NY bar exam subject courses in my LLM study.
I tried to call NY bar exam board but they refused to give answer to this kind of question. I am still waiting for the materials to be received by the board, but understand that the evaluation process is gonna take a few months..
Would be appreciated if I could hear someone with similar background and experience. I am trying to decide which course to choose in my fall semester!
Much appreciated!!

Unfortunately there's not a lot you can do until the board has a chance to evaluate your materials. It depends on whether they think that the requirements they have are all met by the classes you took abroad.

If the diploma is valid for the Australian bar regulators, it might work, but you won’t know until the BOLE gets back to you. It’s in their hands now.
