Hi,

My name is Linda. I am a Chinese lawyer. I practiced law for 5 years in China. I also hold a MBA degree from the states.

I plan to take LLM program and hopefully sit in a bar exam in order to practice federal laws if needed. But I understand some bar exams strictly require JD in the states.

Can anyone share some information and give suggestion which state should I go to in order to sit in the bar with my Chinese lawyer license as equivalent to law degree?

As far as i'm aware of, you're eligible to sit the California bar exam, see this link:

What you need to do is to register as a attorney applicant and take the bar exam. I'm not a qualified lawyer in Hong Kong so i need to take a LLM in US before i'll be eligible to sit for the Bar exam, which was a fact confirmed by the CA bar.
