Hi Greg,
I obtained my LLB from Egypt and I'm going to apply the LLM online program from University of Liverpool in England. However, I will probably relocate to Australia end of next year with my wife, so I am wondering if the LLM from England university would be recognized by Australia law society. Otherwise, please advise if there are any other sources where I can check with. Many thanks!

Hello Radwan
Apologies for the slow reply. If you intend to practice in Australia, you will need to apply to the relevant State authorities to get your LLM assessed. My guess is that they will probably require you to complete most of LLB/JD curriculum in Australia as LLM degrees are generally not considered equivalent to a LLB/JD degree.
Nevertheless, with your LLM, there is a possibility universities might exempt you from the elective component of the LLB/JD program, effectively shortening your candidature to 2.5 or 2 years.
Do double-check - would be good if you could provide further details.
Cheers,
G

Hi Guys,
I am really in need of good advice. I have just completed my 3rd yr llb from unisa in south africa and would like to convert my degree to practice in australia ie: do articles and bar exams in aus. What subjects should I take in my 4th yr that would help me in converting to aus and is it possible once I have completed my llb in south africa to do my articles in aus whilst i completed the required subjects to convert my degree? Or is there a better route to follow? lastly how long is the required articles in aus as in south africa it is 2 yrs? Thanks very much to anyone who can help.
