How to become a lawyer in Australia?

Ericz

A very good day to everybody.

I am currently in my final year of LLB in an UK University. I am fairly confident of graduating with second upper honours (LLB).

My family might be moving to St Lucia, in Brisbane. So, my questions are:

Question 1:
Does Australia differentiates its legal profession into solicitors and barristers (Like UK)?

Question 2:
How do I qualify to become a lawyer?
If there is a differentiation, how do I become a solicitor or barrister in Australia?

Question 3:
Do I need to approach a law firm for a training contract first? (In some countries, we do)

Question 4:
How long will it take?

Any advice, websites or insights will be appreciated. Thank you.

G'Day mate!

This is all I could find after a quick browse: "People who have an overseas qualification and are interested in practising law in Queensland can obtain further information from the Legal Practitioners Admissions Board". (http://www.qls.com.au/content/lwp/wcm/connect/QLS/For+the+Profession/Admission+%26+Practice/Recognition+of+Qualifications).

You will probably need to do some subjects like property law, criminal law and constitutional law before you can "qualify" and do college of law.

Best wishes
