Hi guys! I am Sophie from Sydney. My backgroud is Chinese. I finish my LLB in China and came to Australia for further study. I now finished my LLM. But I was told that only LLB or JD are eligible to go to collage of Law and get admitted. I am wondering is there other way to get qualified? Or maybe other states in Australia have different rules about this? Any one?
Thank you so much!!!
Sophie.

Hi,
For all intents and purposes, LLM will not be the determining factor for the admission into Australia. Since you have an LLB from China, get it assessed by the Legal Profession Admission Board to know what are the additional academic subjects you will be required to 'top up' as a 'bridging course'. However, do be prepared to read a handful of Australian law subjects since your LLB is from China. I doubt there is other way other than this. All those with overseas LLB are required to undergo this same procedure.
Thereafter pursuing the additional subjects with an Australian University, you will be required to undertake a Practical Legal Training course which the College of Law provides. Do bear in mind that you will also be required to satisfy the English requirements by undertaking the IETLS exams and meet the specific pre-requisites for each English skills.
Hope this helps :)
