Hi all,
I'm very interested to hear some opinions on this topic. I read the article on LLM Guide, as well as a few other school reviews and student experience articles based on LLMs in Singapore, Hong Kong, and mainland China. The issue for me is not the quality of the program nor the job prospects afterwards - far from it. In fact, I'm almost convinced an LLM in either Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai or Beijing would serve me very well in the future.
My issue is cost. At the moment I am in considerable debt, having undertaken two previous degrees in two separate countries. With all this borrowed money I find myself asking whether borrowing another $10-15,000 is worth the potential salary boost down the road. It all comes down to the old adage " you have you spend money, to make money." A quality Asian LLM in business law would certainly be an asset, but taking the initial "hit" in the bank account is what concerns me most. I may qualify for a few scholarships, but I am under no delusions that the year will cost me a lot of money.
So - what do you think? Is it worth taking on the extra debt for the potential gain?
