How can you possibly expect anyone to answer 5) without more information? At the very least the nature of your first degree in law, the university (at least some indication of its rank and reputation), class rank, and other details are necessary.
As to 1) I doubt recommendations are that critical. 2) Not sure what you mean. 3) Hard to say; there seems to be around 200-odd a year, all programmes combined. 4) Can't answer this because I have no knowledge.
