I am a US-educated lawyer who has recently moved to India. I would like to know what I need to do in order to obtain an Indian law license. I understand that foreign lawyers may not practice in India without a license, but I cannot figure out how to obtain the license. The Bar Council website does not offer any guidance.
Do I need to attend an Indian law school, sit for the bar exam, simply apply to the Bar Council?
Additionally, I have been unable to speak to an actual person at the Bar Council.
Thank you in advance for your advice/suggestions.
