Experience of Japan?

I was just wondering whether anyone had studied for an LLM in Japan or spent time in Japan generally and would be able to say what its like? I'm worried as I have a read a lot of blogs where people say that they didn't really enjoy Japan as they experienced a lot of racism there e.g. people moving away from them on the train, refusing to serve them etc... and I want to know how true this is.

I'm not sure if Japan's a regular destination for LLM-bound students... What schools are there? University of Tokyo? Maybe Nagoya?

I think that most law students who want to go to Asia instead go to Hong Kong or Singapore... That's just my feeling.
