Edinburgh LL.M 09/10
First post!

So, a blog which is quite possibly the only one so far to cater for a Scottish audience...
Where do I start? I am a recent LL.B graduate (June 2009), who, having been unsuccessful in securing that elusive training contract, decided to try again for 2011 and make up the extra time doing something productive, feed my interest in academia, and enhance my skills in preparation for the 2011 training contract interviews. I would love to practice in corporate, IP, IT, competition, and/or sports law, and so a firm which provides such services would be completely ideal. The big players are the obvious initial candidates, but it must be said that there are a few excellent niche practices out there.
After having read one or two other threads about 09/10 LL.M students, I must confess that I am coming from perhaps the most conventional (and thus, dare I say, boring!) background, seeing as I am at the tender age of 21. I note that there are many practicing lawyers out there, as well as doctoral candidates, IT professionals, management consultants, and all sorts of other occupational backgrounds. Still, this can only serve to enrich the experience.
Next week, my new classmates and I will be diving headfirst into the LL.M in Commercial Law. I have provisionally chosen to study Company Law, EC Competition Law, and Date Protection & Information Privacy, which I will of course keep you updated on.
Until then, cheers!
