Hi,
I have a few questions and any type of help would be much appreciated! I am currently holding a master's degree in Law in my home country Croatia and my title is mag.iur
Can I go straight to SJD without the LLM in the USA? Or should I go and try to do PhD? can you please give me some guidelines..also, money is definitely a problem, especially since my parents got a divorce, so do you know about some good scholarships for cases like mine?
Also, can work experience help if you want to pursue law school in the US or it's not important?
I will be in NY for the summer and I will try to go to as many Universities as possible to do some research so I can make the best choice about which one to apply to, but I would need some guidelines first..please have in mind that I plan on living in the USA for good and practice law, after finishing any type of law school there..thank you in advance for all your help! :)

there are some US law schools that accept direct admission to the SJD/JSD program without first having an LL.M. i didnt understand where you want to pursue a PhD instead of SJD, do u mean in US or in your home country?
i would like to let you know that if you plan to work in the US, so i recommend that you go for JD not SJD. SJD is an intended program for those who desire a career in academia.
concerning the scholarships available, it depends on the degree you want to pursue and the school you are applying to. it also might depend on your nationality, grades, need ...etc.
hope it helps.
best regards
Ayman

thank you!
yes, in the US, not in my home country..I know all of this, but the biggest problem are the expenses and what to study, LLM, JD, PhD...I don't know..sometimes I'm thinking it would be easier just to skip the law school and go to study PR :)

For lawyers who want to teach, postgraduate law degrees like the LL.M. or J.S.D. are options, but not the only ones.
