Rankings are clear. Virginia is better. On the other hand, Washington is the bigger city. What is your specialty, by the way?

Thank you for your answer tmalmine. About my specialty, I'm focused on litigation for corporate clients in an international law firm.
My concern is because, sometimes, rankings are a little bit tricky, so I need to know whether Virginia, in general terms, is really better than Georgetown.
Also Im wondering about how boring or funny could be Charlottesville

I heard that Virginia is not far from DC.
But definitely the living cost would be lower!

And Virginia has a great tradition in law, should be a better choice for you:)

I have been accepted to Georgetown as well. I am not sure that I will attend, but having researched both schools, I would choose Georgetown over Virginia.

I know that this has been said many times, but I think it is worth noting once again. The rankings generally rank JD programs not LLM programs. I actually think that Georgetown has one of the better LLM programs around. They tend to cater more to graduate students than most other schools....as a matter of fact, I think that they have more graduate courses and seminars than any other LLM program. In addition, of particular relevance, Georgetwon has great externships, the Supreme Court Institute and the added bonus of being in one of the nicest cities in the U.S.

Of course, both are a great choice but I think Georgetown is a better place to pursue graduate legal studies.

yeah, except that Georgetown University is not recommended for bar examination as said in their documentation....

To be fair though, most schools indicate that they don't recommend the LL.M. for the bar exam. I think if you want to cater your LL.M. degree towards practicing in the U.S. you can still do that at Georgetown though....perhaps that means taking fewer graduate classes and more basic U.S. law classes.

I agree witn rah...
In fact, I got admiited to GULC while not yet to UVA.
However, I have decided to choose GULC over UVA even if UVA accepts me...better courses, various opportunities, better environment (with personal preference engaged though), maybe providing the most plenty of what one can learn about US in just one year or so in US...
As to the bar exam, agree with rah...I believe no one passes NY bar for what he has learned in LLM...it needs special personal endeaver in most cases without regard to which LLM you pursue...

I was admitted to both also, but still have plenty of doubts about which one I should choose. . .
Any extra information about sth that can make the difference will be more than welcome! Corporations and contracts is my speciality.
