I applied in late January and received a letter of "waiting list position notification".
I am pretty down. This result is out of my expectation. Probably I was too confident...Now I am just waiting....
Is there anybody who is on the same boat?

Hi,
Am on the same boat. It's ok friend. We have to wait. Look to the bright side, we are by far more lucky that those who got rejected.
However, pray harder!! God will help us pass through this. haha

When will we know the result? How many ppl turned Upenn down?
So far, I have Cornell in my hand. If i receive an admission from Upenn, should I go for Upenn since they both are Ivy leage. what is pro&con btw. these two prestigious schools?

I called the officer today. Upenn can't make any decision for waiting list ppl right now. They might be able to tell us around May or June or even Aug. They still waiting for a whole bunch of people who haven't respond yet.
What do u guys think? ...
I think they will lose all students since all waiting list ppl. have other good choices. Is it really worth to wait that long?
I think they will not get enough 80 students this yr.

The dateline for accepted students to pay their second half of the deposit is end April. So most probably it takes time for the office to finalise things before the waitlist is contacted. So hold on, don't give up !

Hi all,
I've placed in Penn wl last year and got rejection notice around late May-June.
Last year there were 50 guys in the wl. Penn says that they don't know hom many people are admitted from the wl. This number varies year from year. Also the final number of LLMs is not the same every year, they can admit up to 6-7 more than the standard number (80).
Useless to say taht it mostly depends on the country. I mean, for instance, if two Germans turn down the offer, there will be two Germans which go in. However, this is only a statement based on experiences shared with others who had my same situation, so is not a rule.
Besides, August is an impossible date... Visas require a valuable time and summer program is mandatory for foreigners, thus they have to make final determinations relatevely early. Only in extraordinary circumstances (e.g. a sudden declination for personal problem), someone can be picked up from the wl in July-August.
The later you hear from them the less chances you have to be in.
Nevertheless, I myself got the admission this year after a bad period of illusion-delusion.
So, come on! Hope never dies... and, if not this year, it will be the next!

I was placed on UPenn's waitlist and I just received an overseas call from the Assistant Dean Adam Kolker offering me a slot. I declined the offer.
Hope this info is useful to those still interested in UPenn.
