I have decided to go to University of Chicago for the LL.M. program this fall. Is there anyone else who has made his or her decision to go to UofChicago as well? Please show up and we can exchange our ideas regarding many preparation stuff in advance. In order for us to take a LL.M. program which is as small in size as that one in UofChicago, we got to be incentivized to act on our own to share many things. Cheers.

I have no idea why those of you who are admitted to University of Chicago are so shy...

Hi,
I also decided to go to U of C Law School..
Let me introduce myself. I am currently studying in my last year of law school at the University of Antwerp, Belgium.
Further, I want to take course in corporations, m&a, corporate finance and litigation, but if I have the chance to take courses of professors like Marta Nausbaum or Judge Posner, I will do that,
Where are you from stealthbomber? What is your background? ...

Hi, I'm from China and have been working in law firms for years. I have the same areas of interest as you do since they are either related to my work. I haven't applied for the I-20 form yet. Am now considering options for living in Chicago. Have you made up your mind on that? There is another future classmate who contacted me via mail message here. I hope that more classmates may show up such that we can discuss widely on many subjects.

I will be joining you in September. I am also a last year law student for Belgium and my fields of interests are business related: Corporation, anti trust, the courses on freedom of speech also appeals to me, and I will definitely look into Law and Economics further.

Hi, everyone
I am going to the University of Chicago as well! I am a Brazilian lawyer with a little more than 2 years of experience right now. Also interested in corporate law, securities, M&A etc. Definitely taking some law and economics too!
I was wondering if anyone has already decided where to live at... I am between Regents and New Grad Resid, but the cost difference ($300 per month) is making New Grad look a little more attractive...
What do you think?

Well I was looking for New Grad as well. I prefer it over I-house because at least in New Grad you have your own sanitary facilities.
One little question, do we have to send the 300 $ in cash with the application?

As regards selecting apartments, I think that Regents Park might be a good choice if you are supposed to take the NY Bar exam next year, since neither I-House nor the New Grad will allow you to live there after the Spring Quarter and you will need to look for a temporary apartment then. Of course, the cost for living in Regents Park is much higher than living in the campus. But, sharing a two/three bedrooms apartment with someone else can be a good idea, and the cost difference can become slim. I prefer living in Regents Park, altho' I confess that it'd be kind of difficult if I am to share the apartments with others, or I will have to bear the increased cost for living a one-bedroom apartment alone.

Why don't we chat with each other via instant messenger, such as msn? We can send our msn accounts to each other's mailbox here.

Hi everybody,
Good to see you here on the Discussion board! I am also enrolling in the incoming LL.M. Program at the University of Chicago, so please allow me to introduce myself: My name is Martin and I´m from Austria. I am currently working at the Courts of Vienna as a juridical assistant to the judges. I am quite interested in Contract Law, IP, Arbitration and Corporations. I wouldn´t like to miss the chance to learn some more about Law and Economics either (Economic Analysis of law; US Antitrust). I am definitely looking forward to going to Chicago and meeting you! As for the living, I have applied for Regents Park; if I found a shared accomodation closer to the University a n d a Metra station I would clearly give it a thought; I wonder if we should probably establish a g o o g l e - g r o u p once Dean Badger has distributed our addresses; this would allow us to have a somehow more private conversation. All the best!
Cheers, M

I'll be joining you! Has a separate group been created already?

Welcome! It appears that we will be three Brazilians in U of Chicago then - you, another "carioca" and me (as far as I know, at least).
I don't think there is an e-mail group yet... Have you decided where to live at?

One perspective classmate suggested to me that a group @ Facebook might be more convenient and much "sexier" as compared with the same @ google. I think it's worth trying and have taken several minutes creating one group @ Facebook. But I don't know yet how to get that group's address although I want to send it to all of you here and we can decide which one is better. Does any of you have any tip on that? Thanks.

Not even a clue, my friend.
I am already in facebook, anyway.
