Hi Elan,

Before I can give you some helpful advice, tell me what area of law or concentration are you interested in.

Hey there.
GW is in the middle of DC. It is a stone's throw from the World Bank, and just another stone's throw from the White House. It is in the political mecca of the US. If you are at all interested in government or international relations/law, it is ideal. I'm from DC myself, and can say that a school that is situated in DC will give you much better contacts in that area and on the East Coast in general if that is what you are looking for.
I am less familiar with IUCU, but went to a state law school in a neighboring state. IUCU has a good reptutation, and depending on your area of law, it may be more/less suitable. But the variety of contacts and the attention that the campus gets from prospective employers is likely not as varied or numerous as that of GW. I think that one often overlooked issue that gets obfuscated by the "ranking game" is location and post degree opportunities. I read a stat somewhere that noted that over half of JD grads end up working within 50 miles of their law school once they graduate. So, spend a good deal of time looking at your end goal, and figuring out the probabilities of getting there, given the average grad trajectory of specific schools.

The best thing to do is contact recent grads/admissions office and ask them about LLM experience in the specific areas of interest to you: employment, post LLM study opportunity, scholarships, etc.

Tell me I am into IPR practise in India since 2 decades. I intend to do my LLM from DC .What is the criteria of admission. My marks/transcripts are about 25 years old so the marks of those days might not prove helpful. Do they consider experience too. What do they give weightage to for admissions.Thanks.
