System of credit hours

Sunil

hi

How does this credit hour system work? If I choose to do LL.M in some US Law School, please could you expand on this statement:

'all students enroll in studies at XYZ school for one academic year(doing LL.M in a US Law School), during which they must complete 24 credit hours of course work'.

If, let's say, maximum of 3 credit hours is assigned to each subject, does that mean I have to pass in minimum 8 subjects to qualify for LL.M degree?

Could any American please explain this concept of Credit hour(s)?

Many Thanks.

yes, 1 credit is roughly the same as 1 hour. in Harvard, we get to have around 6-8 subjects for the academic year. but don't let the number fool you, 24 credits is a lot of work.
