Hello Newly Admitted LL.M.s!
Welcome to Harvard! I am one of the Staff Assistants in the Graduate Program. I hope to meet all of you in the fall (or sooner, if you visit Harvard this spring or summer). I know that some of you have been having trouble with your email access. If you are one of these people, there are a few things you should do. First, check to see if you can log into the Admitted Students Website with your username and password ( www.law.harvard.edu/academics/graduate/admitted). Then, either email or call Harvard Law School's Information Technology Services (ITS) at help@law.harvard.edu or at (617) 496-9576. Please be specific: tell them you are a newly admitted LLM student and let them know whether you can access the website but not email or nether the website nor email.
You can also call me at (617) 496-2873 or email me at rlorenz@law.harvard.edu (or just reply to this message). I'll be happy to contact ITS for you!
Congratulations on your acceptance, and, again, I look forward to meeting you!
Best Regards,
Rebekah Lorenz

I justb received the above strange email, yet I only got the second test email, did not get any admission email, and have received nothing on post.
I guess I will have to call them asap to find out what's going on. In the meantime, anyone else get one?

Hi Kay, it seems that your name is on the admitted applicants list! I also got that email, but I was admitted. I received my admission materials on monday. Another option would be that they have sent this email to all applicants, or at least a lot of applicants, also the ones who were not admitted. It would be a really stupid mistake however...

Of course, that "stupid mistake" wouldn't surprise me... I am impressed with the kindness of HLS's staff with those who were admitted, but they seem to show no respect for everyone else. I am shocked!

BTW, I was admitted and also got the e-mail. Moreover, I cannot log into the e-mail account HLS provided...

I only received the second test email and yet, and yet....by mail received a one year's membership in Harvard's "Jelly of the Month" club.
Cruel coincidence? Or more evidence of a secret plan for world domination through jelly molds?

That was a joke. This whole email thing at Harvard is truly bizarre.

One way (if they did not tell you that you were admitted) or the other (they sent you this e-mail by mistake), it is really unacceptable and unprofessional. They should pay more attention about what they do ; it is the image of the university. A mistake is always possible, but now the way how they deal with admission process is simply ridiculous!
I hope that you are admitted if it is your first choice.

Dear Cindy,
After reading your "if it is your first choice" in the context of your previous posts in other threads I wonder if you have an "old story" of clashes and hatred with HLS...

Just kidding: You're totally right! I embrace your words :-)

No misinterpretation here. I was not trying to be sarcastic. After rereading my post, I understand that one could think so. But it was not my intention. I only wanted to say that even if it is unacceptable, it could be a good surprise in the end for someone who deeply wanted to go there.

what a joke...after those stupid "second test emails", now this?
i agree with cindy...if you really wanted to go there, then it's a nice "surprise"...
in my case, i wouldnt even bother...but that's my personal opinion..."brand name" doesnt matter too much anymore, specially after all this lack of respect from HLS...my money would go somewhere else for sure.

And the soap opera continues....
Sorry guys, but the truth is that Harvard shouldn't worth our precious time anymore.
I didn't receive any information about my rejection.
I live 20 minutes from Harvard and they were not able to spend $0.39 with a single rejection letter.
What esle can we expect from them?
HARVARD OUT OF MY LIST FOREVER!

Wow, it sounds pretty obnoxious (even for Harvard standards)... This kind of things makes you think whether they take LLMs seriously there... I don´t feel any "Ivy Envy" at all...

People,
It seems that I was actually admitted after all. I got an official email to that effect, right after receiving the 'strange email'. I have also just received the admissions letter and stack by mail this morning.
There's still hope after all!

I think we should not pay too much attention to the mistakes or incovenience occurred during the admission process. It's not the first time we face troubles, right? And frankly speaking we have absolutely no idea what are the troubles of HLS's or any other school's admission office this year, unless we are inside.. I don't believe we can't stand all this email story.
What we should really care is the result, i.e. admission to the designated law school and the studies. After all these are our goals.
P.S. Congrats, Kay! See you in Cambridge!

Kay:
Did you apply for a "specialization" LLM, such as tax, international finance or human rights? Or did you simply apply for the regular LLM?
