Still Waitlisted - Any chance?

Youz

Hi everybody,

Here is my situation:

I have been waitlisted at Cornell's since March. It beeing agreed that no decision as been made for me so far, I was told by the admission committee that the waitlist was active through August.

I am now asking anybody out there that experienced or is currently experiencing the same situation - Do I have the slightest chance to get in? if so, what can I do to accelerate this process?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Same position for me at Cornell. I have called regularly and am consistently told the class is full. I have fully prepared to move to DC in a couple of weeks to attend GW.

I think it is exagerated to maintain applicants on waitlist so long considering all the major concerns related to any admission (e.g loan, housing etc.).

How such an honorable institution can adopt such a method? How can the average student properly prepare his coming to the University while he has just been informed of his admission on mid-August?

It is pretty anti social, but I kind of understand the process. They keep the list open till class begins, as there may be people with Visa/money issues that do not come apparent until shortly before the class. That way, they have a pool of people available to pick from who may be able to switch at short notice. One complaint is that they have too many people on that waitlist. I was told there was at least 150 people on that list for a class of only 55 people!

What they should do is have a list of about half of that and then rank those into tiers. They could tell you your tier, that way you had an idea of what may happen. We have rather been kept in the dark about all of this.

Anyways, I cannot wait to start at GW.

Considering the large amount of money at stake, I think the best thing to do for us when beeing both waitlisted in Top Ivy Leagues Law Schools and admitted in less ranked universities is trying our luck next year with better preparation.

Personnally I wouldn't go to GW or Fordham while beeing waitlisted so long in the crème de la crème.

Best wishes anyway.
