Hi, I'm an Australian student with a BA and am currently 2/3 of the way through my LLB.
I intend to work in the US and sit either the NY or CA bar on graduation.
I am able complete my LLB studies offshore and with the new E3 visa for Australians was thinking of trying to get paralegal work in LA or NY. I thought this would be great experience in a US law environment and helpful with my future aspirations.
Can anybody suggest a good starting point for finding this type of work such as good recruitment agencies etc? I am particularly interested in working in entertainment and media law, intellectual property law or corporate law.
I'm also planning on completing a LLM in the States and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations and advice regarding this. Are all LLM programs competitive based on GPA's? Is it best to study in NY or CA depending on where I want to work?
