As for housing, the dorms/area around NYU are pricey. If you want a really short commute and a young, hip living area, by all means enjoy. It is nice down there. I am on the upper west side. It is about 35 min or so to commute to NYU, but the rent is less (by 10% or so tops, nothing that cheap) and the park and supermarkets/amenities here make it worthwhile for me. there are tons of areas for various prices and atmosphere's. However, for a 2 or 1 bedroom, finding anything less than 800 a month is VERY rare/suspect.

Hello everybody,
I am also starting at NYU to study for an LLM in International legal studies. I hope getting this LLM will really enhance our ability to get good jobs in the U.S- any thoughts? I have lived in New York for the last yr, so Im not exactly new to the life and more importantly, the cost of living in the city.
It all boils down to- how much disposable income one has. Commuting for 45 mins, is no big deal, if your saving 600-800 a month. You can get a beautiful apt in Queens or Brooklyn for 1000 a month. Or you can live right in the centre of the city for 1800-2000 a month. So if you can afford it , great! If not , dont fret the other boroughs have there charms too!
Cant wait to get there and meet everybody!

hi everyone, just thought I would respond to a few of these questions. I am a current LLM at NYU (trade reg) and fell across this website cause I was looking for summer LLM classes in a European/Asian country.
Anyway: As for dorms. Great location, fairly nice, near school. Expensive. If you are willing to share with 3-4 people, you can find something near school for $800-$1200 per month. I live further north, so its even cheaper. If you dont mind a 30 minute subway ride you can save a few hunded a month.
As for the programs, International and corporate are excellent. Tax is the best in the U.S. by far. You will all have a great time.
Registration note: not all classes are equal. Some are harder to get into. When filling out the "lottery" I would choose any class which is hard to get into which you might be interested -- you can drop a class easily but very hard to get into a class if it filled up.
See you all in the Fall!!!

Hi everyone,
I am Harold and admitted to the Corporations Program. I study at Leiden University in Holland, but at the moment I am on an exchange program in Sao Paulo, Brazil, for one semester. I am looking forward to meet you all!
I was already admitted last year to the LL.M. program, but I decided to defer my enrollment. Last year I got a lot of information by mail (registration material, visa forms etc.) This year I didn't get anything till now. Did any of you? Or is it all on the internet now?

Signed up for the tax program, although I am not totally sure I am going. I also got into USL's Banking and finance law program so I am deciding between the two. I am 85% sure on Nyu. Anyway I am looking for housing in NYC. Is there anyone looking for a roomate or also looking for housing. If so, drop me a line.

Hi people: Congrats to you all on your admissions to NYU. I'm recently graduated from a top Canadian school and will be completing my articles of clerkship over the next 10 months. I plan on applying to grad programs in the U.K. and U.S.
Would anyone mind disclosing what their avg. in law school was and what NYU is looking for?
Thank you.

Hey everyone, I've decided to defer my LLM studies till 2006. I have been accepted into the NYU LLM (International Legal Studies) and the Oxford BCL. I'm still undecided as to where to go. I hope to practise public international law in an international organisation, or if possible in private practice (but I realise the latter option is very limited). I am not too worried as to whether I end up practising in the US or Europe. Any thoughts on the advantages/disadvantages of obtaining an LLM from NYU versus an Oxford BCL? I would greatly appreciate your commens!

Hey All,
I have been admitted to the General Studies Program, however the courses I am taking are mainly tax oriented. I was wondering if I could switch over to LLM in Taxation (would that be possible)
Any thoughts or information?
