I'm interested in commercial law, international trade and 1980's style heavy metal music.
How does Bon Jovi's third album stack up against Harvard, Stanford and others?
NYU vs. Harvard vs. Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi is 80's metal?

Good thing no one from Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, and maybe even Motley Crüe are in this board. If they were I guess you'd probably have a couple of thugs on your doorstep by now.

Bon Jovi is as overrated as Beethoven's music.

very interesting postings~~ :)
If it was ten years ago when I was 25, I would not have rated even Iron Maiden and Motley Crue, much less Bon Jovi and maybe Ratt and Stryper, at the same grade as Metallica and Megadeath (and if I may add one, Sepultura)...
But now, I just think Metallica is Metaliica, and Bon Jovi is Bon Jovi...they are both great...anyway they have been selected by kinda most picky maniacs and have survived inarguably the hottest battlefield of rock/metal players in 80's and early 90's, and both are still playing rigorously...it never is easy, isnt it?
Well, last time I visited US for biz, I dropped by the Guitar Center to purchased Morley Bad Horsie II crybaby which is not imported to my homeland...Coming this fall, I am looking forward to buying my Jackson soloist, too~~

I'm glad to see so many informed rock fans on this board.
I should have put Bon Jovi as representing the "1980's hair metal" in my original post, as I agree that Megadeth, Metallica and Pantera are better representatives of the heavy metal genre and CLEARLY knock Bon Jovi, Harvard and Standard out of the heavy-riff waters.

I don´t believe Bon Jovi qualifies to be a Heavy Metal Band. They are more like Glam Rock. If you want to get some good 80´s rock try Van Halen and Rush, now that´s good music.

All good points, though I believe at least a portion of Van Halen's time in the 1980's could certainly be brought into the "glam rock" category... take a look at the video "Jump"... that's totally glam rock!

Can you read that I wrote down that Van Halen at some point was not Glam? I sure don´t. My point is that Van Halen is a great rock band. Now that I definitely wrote down. I would say the Harvard of 80´s rock.

And motley would be what... Stanford? (They're from west coast-LA). Although Metallica is closer (SF). I'd rather go to UT/Tulane... Pantera ruled! (May Mr. Darrell R.I.P.) Stupid crazy fan! Anyway, how about schools from Seattle, the Seattle scene is more my age group, although not top 20.

I certainly think Van Halen would like to be called the "Harvard of the 1980's" in terms of hard rock.
But then Nirvana was the University of California Berkeley of the 1990s... always a cool destination...
