Just thought I would share the news with anyone interested. I emailed the Office of Graduate Admissions today to see whether they had begun granting Tax Law Review Scholarships or the Graduate Tax Program Scholarships. I received my acceptance letter in December but hadn't heard anything about scholarships and I didn't know if whether that meant I wasn't going to get one or whether there was still a chance. I was told that the "Committee" was unable to grant me a scholarship. For those of you still holding out for scholarships, here are my stats: Graduated first in my class from a top tier law school, I was the editor in chief of law review, and I've shown my dedication to tax by being a tax lawyer for the past 8 (almost 9 years) at an international law firm which has received recognition for having one of the best tax practices in the nation. I really don't know what else I could have done in school or my career to receive a scholarship, but there you go. Good luck to everyone else!

So the question is has anyone ever received a tax shorlarship this year?
Maybe they just didn't give out money this year because the scholarship fund is draining as a result of the economic downturn?

I spoke to an old prof of mine who went to NYU in the 80s. She said NYU barely gave any money when times were good and now that they are flooded with applicants with no other options but NYU they are going to reduce the number of scholarships to a trickle.
