Seems the first wave of offers has been over. I still received no news from NYU, and unable to login the admitted students site.
Is there anybody who has not yet received offers but successfully login the admitted students site? I assume no news in the first two days is indeed a bad sign.

Take it easy. NYU informed that they are still reviewing the application materials. I am sure they will send out another batch of admissions sooner or later.

How people are trying to log in the NYU website as an admitted student if most of the student do not have social security number?

The number will appear from your application "home page" when you have been admitted.

is it not the same 888XXXXXX number that we used to identify the application materials?

Yeah, I think you're right - in that case it is available before receipt of the admission email :)

the following is from nyu's website:
Decisions regarding the full-time LL.M. program in New York City will be communicated in early to mid-March to applicants with foreign education credentials who supply all materials necessary to complete their files by the December 1 deadline, without preference as to date of application. Those foreign applicants who do not supply materials to complete their application by the December 1 deadline will receive decisions as they are made following completion of their file. All decisions for foreign applicants to the LL.M. program in New York City will be communicated by late June.
how do you interpret this???

I got in last night. No scholarships. I'm really happy anyway. I really wanted NYU. I was not expecting to get accepted this week. :)))
Do you guys know what they do when somebody give up of the scholarship? The next students receive an offer to that? I wish I could receive an scholarship. I would be more happy than ever... Does somebody know which scholarships we needed to apply and the ones we received an offer any way?

congratulations!!
which LLM program did you apply to?
as for the scholarships, i would guess that if someone turns down a scholarship, the next person will be offered one... but that's just a guess.
I think you had to apply for the Hauser, and consequently you are eligible for the other ones (vanderbilt, grotius etc.). otherwise, if you did not apply for the hauser, you are automatically considered for all scholarships, save the hauser. I may be wrong. please correct me.
anyways, congrats!! that's a great achievement!

Aleajactaest,
I am certain that they do not give out admissions until they have decided whether or not you will receive a scholarship. I confirmed with them that this is the case. Thus if you received an admission with no scholarship news, you aren't getting one. I'm in the same boat. The Hauser required some additional statements, but the others required nothing additional and you were considered for them with your application.
I'm afraid my euphoria at NYU's acceptance was short-lived since the prospect of paying $45,000 for tuition makes my stomach churn. Include living expenses, books, etc., and the total is staggering (at least to me). I wrote to NYU to see about deferral for a year, but haven't heard back. I would be surprised if they permitted deferrals.

Raji20 what you said makes sense but, what happens with the scholarships of those who decide to reject the offer for not having money to come to U.S. or live in NY, or who got a better scholarship in another school, or who simple prefer another school? They are not going to give those scholarships to next ones in the list?
Posted Mar 10, 2009 22:19
Raji20, I totally understand your predicament. See my posting on March 2 on " NYU is killing me" message board. What concerned me was your comment that you didn't think NYU would let you defer. They say in their admissions packet that you can defer for one year as long as you don't apply to any other LLM program or attend any other a LL.M. program in the meantime. Please let me know what they tell you because I am seriously considering deferring.
