I'm trying to find out the how good NYLS LLM generally is. There is very little, almost zero, discussion about this school on this forum.
NYLS seems to be a 3rd tier law school. But several low ranked schools have some reputed specialized LLM programs. The tax LLM at NYLS seems to be one such offering. Even Financial Services LLM of NYLS also seems interesting.
I generally want to find out about this school, and specifically American Business Law LLM being offered starting this year.
Please help. I'm interested in joining this LLM Fall 2012.
NYLS (not NYU) LLm Is it good ?

Unless your grades are not high enough, I would advise you to investigate attending more-reputable schools than NYLS. Even just in NYC, I think Fordham has the type of program you mention. And, outside of NYC many well-regarded schools offer coursework/programs in US business law.

Thanks Voice of Reason.
I understand that there are similar programs offered by more
reputed schools. My credentials seem good enough for a Cornell or NYU. But applications to most reputed schools for Fall 2012 are closed. For some reason i did not apply earlier, and my problem is I dont want to wait 1 more year.
What i am looking in my LLM is something like this: a NYC based program in general US law, then i want to pass NY Bar at any cost, work for few months in NY state litigation/court practice, do some NYC legal networking, and then go home.
In my above plans NYLS fits in: its admissions are still open, has program in American Business law which seems good, has a concentration in New York Business law and practice, it is in manhattan.
My Dilemma is: should I waste money just because I dont want to wait another year if NYLS turns out bad place to study, network, has unhelpful faculty, etc.
I have not been able to get info about NYLS program, apart from what is on their website.
Anyone who has studied or knows someone who studied at NYLS LLM, Please Help. Thanks

Sorry, but here is the truth. You will waste your life applying for the 3tier school for your llm. So what do you want to do - waste your life or waste your year? Dont be a child. I can see JD from NYLS can give you a career but not llm. There are at least 50 schools worth going where you can easily get in.
of course if you cant get into other schools than probably you should go. But if it is only about waiting for a year i gave you my opinion

You should apply for Fordham or Cardozo, which are both in NYC. Unlike Cornell or NYU they have spring admissions so you won't have to wait another year. The Fordham application deadline is 1 October and the Cardozo deadline is 1 December. They are far better law schools than NYLS.
