Hi all - how long will I have to wait before I hear anything about my foreign creditials? I submitted the BOLE application and followed up with all documentation back in February 2012. I have heard nothing since. I have contacted the NY Bar and have been told that they have all appropriate documentation but I'm not certain when I will be hearing anything.

As you have clearly stated that you submitted your application in about February 2012, I am inclined to say that you should expect a reasoned determination on you eligibility not later than 31/10/2012.
This presumption is purely based on my own previous experience and I will stronly advise you to contact the Board of Examiners if you don't receive any substantive reponse by the proposed deadline above. They are very friendly and helpful. I believe they will be able to advise you further.
Wish you all the best and I hope you will get good news from them.

Thanks for your reply. I'll hold out until November and see what arises. I live in Florida and need to make plans to move to NY with my family however this will be dependent on the outcome of NY Bar's decision on my foreign credentials. The sooner I know the outcome the more I am able to plan my next steps. It has been a while since all the papers have been filed at the NY Bar so I've been left pondering recently... Thanks for your take.

I am still waiting, too. I sent all documents already in March and I hope to hear from them soon.

Registration for Feb 2013 begins in about November 2012 so I am very optimistic that you should receive feedback from the Board of Law Examiners soon.
It will be very helpful if you could gather any other law qualifications and letter from the law school(s) you attended in advance stating that your qualification(s) allow(s) you to practise law or pursue the law professional course in that jurisdiction.
The reason why I am saying this is that if the Board decide that your first degree is not sufficient to guarantee your eligibility, they may contact you to furnish them with further qualifications.eg.LLM/ Bar .
In order to speed up the process, I respectfully advise you to be well equipped with additional information in hand. But generally speaking LLB(Hons) which is normally Qualifying Law Degree (QLD) from the recognised UK institutions is fit for this purpose provided it is not obtained by distance/external route.
Good luck to all prospective applicants!

Hi all,
I am so nervous...I sent my documents in April in order to sit for NY bar exam in February 2013 and I am still waiting..I called the bar 2 weeks ago and they told me that they have received everything and approximately at the end of September or in the beginning of October I will be notified..I believe they are going to do this for the most LL.M students in order to have time to do the application in November..but today, I called and they told me that firstly you have to finish the LL.M and after that to send them the diploma and they will decide and so, maybe I can sit for bar exam in July 2013..I believe that there was a misunderstanding in the discussion, as I am going to graduate this December and from friends that I know, they submit the documents for an advance evaluation, they received an email that they have to also submit the LL.M diploma, they applied for bar in November and in the beginning of January they sent the LL.M diploma and they received a final email that all the paperwork was ok..I do not know..today I am confused..does someone have an idea? I would appreciate this
