my first post...
- Seems that Maryland opened this program just this year. Most of my friends does not know that Maryland has LLM before.
Anyone have any idea or experience about this new program?
- According to the official website 30 credits is required, including one 6-credit thesis. That's a lot of workload!
- How about international law at Maryland? Looks like Maryland is famous for enironmental law?
Thanks! Looking forward your answers and experiences...

I was also looking at Maryland for International and Comparative Law, but being that it is such a new program, and unlike most other schools, requires 3 letters of recommendation, I am a bit turned off by it. I know nothing about its reputation, given that it is so new, but Maryland's JD program is pretty good. I'm trying to figure out tuition rates more than anything and whether it presumably being cheaper as a state school would be worth the gamble.

Not only 3 letters.
They also request authenticated transcripts from LSDAS, and it would cost $185 to the LSAC.
Poor international applicants...

Hi everyone, i was just wondering if anyone could help me. I will be graduating with an LLB from a south african university and i am confused wether to do the JD or the LLM. I heard that the NY Bar is really hard but that you can take the exam with an american LLM and that you don't actually have to do the JD, although it is advisable to do the JD interms mobility across different states to be able to practice. I have been considering doing an LLM at Univ of Marlyand. Do they by any chance offer scholarships for international students? I know that they are usually reserved for citizens who are probably exeptionally bright and outstanding acedemic records, but i was wondering if anyone knew if they do offer such scholarships for foreing students based on other grounds.
Thanks.
Mimi
