My transcripts are being evaluated for more than a week already. Does anybody know how much time it usually takes for transcripts to be evaluated?

Thanks ;)

At least two weeks.
In my case they take three weeks (international transcript evaluation)

Oh god, this is bad...
I really need them to evaluate before the end of this month, so I will be considered for the early review of Penn.

What country did you recieve your education at?

I think the time really depends on how busy they are, I sent my transcripts in this July and it only took them around a week to finish the evaluation (I'm from Iceland). I guess now is a pretty busy time since deadlines are approaching for many programs.

Do all of your materials have to reach UPenn by the deadline or would it be enough for you to submit your application before the deadline and then for your law school report to be updated when LSAC has finished evaluating your transcripts? You should check that out if you haven't already and then maybe contact LSAC with this info if you feel you need to :)

Good luck!

"Applicants who submit a completed *online* application prior to December 1, and ensure that all supporting materials have been delivered as well, will be eligible for Early Notification"

Meaning they want the full materials with the application. It really frustrates me, since it takes alot of time to evaluate my transcripts, and I am not sure how they will evaluate them. I am afraid to be average.

An above average or superior evaluation should be matched with the school where you got it.

It is definitely taken into account.

In Israel the grading is on a scale of 0 - 100, when every course's average grade gets regulated to 77-81 overall average. My final GPA is 85, meaning I should be above average? but I am still not sure how AACRAO will evaluate it, and I am afraid they will fail to evaluate correctly. By the way, who sent you this mail?

P.S. - is "above average" really good for T14 schools? I have not applied for Harvard or Yale or so... but say, Penn and NYU?

Don't spend your time worrying over something that you can't do nothing about at this point.

And trust me, most of the universities (especially the top ones) have their own way of evaluating transcripts and they have much more knowledge about the different grading systems and degrees than LSAC does. The LSAC's mockery of an evaluation does not have much weigh in the end.

November 29th, still no evaluation has been made. I received the following mail from LSAC:

"Dear ****,

Thank you for your email. As of today the evaluation is still under review, the date it began was on 11/18. Please be advised that this is our peak processing time and the evaluations tend to take longer than normal. We ask your patience in this process and to keep checking your account for updates."

Very disappointed so far. My transcript shouldn't be so hard to evaluate.

LSAC's website says the evaluation takes approximately two weeks to process a US transcript and even longer in the case of international transcripts. When have you submitted your transcripts for evaluation? Where are you from?

Did you try to contact LSAC and explain that Penn's deadline is in 2 days?

"It takes approximately two weeks to process a US transcript or letter of recommendation from the time it is received by LSAC. Transcripts from non-US institutions may take longer."

LSAC already told me that it should take up to 10 business days to evaluate my transcripts. But since then, nothing happened. I come from Israel, and I graduated from the best university in here, which is quite credible and renowned in the academic world, so it shouldn't take so long to evaluate.

I dont think that the problem is the time they take to evaluate your transcript, but the number of transcripts they have to evaluate at the same time, specially now with all the deadlines around the corner. Thats why they say international students should send everything to lsac at least 4-6 weeks in advance.

It took almost 3 weeks for my transcripts to be evaluated, and i sent them all 2 months ago, when i believe they had lower volume of work.

In any case, good luck there! There is still a chance they will have everything done by tomorrow!

Oh my god!

I can not breathe, eat or think. LSAC evaluated my transcripts 'Superior'!. I guess they do take the institution to consideration when evaluating.
Wow, I can not think about what to do next. Should I apply to more places? I have applied to Chicago, NYU, Penn, Cornell and Berkeley. I really want to go to Columbia, but I hesitated about it since I do not think I will be admitted.

I know a lot of people accepted by columbia with an "above average" evaluation. Dont overthink the process, apply to the schools you really want to go, you'll never know unless you try

I applied to columbia and had an "above the average" evLuation. I tried to highlight my work experience etc. and i still think i have chances ;)

You still have time to apply to the regular cycle!

Good luck!!

You should definitely apply to Columbia! Or else I will be dissapointed with you ;) However the deadline for fall 2013 admission is already December 17, so be quick!
