Hi everyone,
I am new here in this group, and I confess that I am getting very overwhelmed with the application process for the LLM programs in USA.
Can someone please tell me what exactly LSAC would do for me? Would they send all my documents direct to the schools that I am interested? What does the LSAC do and what do I do in order to have the whole process in place?
In other words, what documents LSAC will forward to the schools, and which documents I will send myself to the schools?
I was reading the application form from UNC School of Law, and I noticed that they are asking for a essay on law field to be send to them. In this case, and maybe in many other cases, do I have to sent this essay direct to the schools or I have to send it to LSAC and they will forward to the schools of my interest?
How does LSAC works, in details, please.
Thanks, and I appreciate If I get some answers. You guys are great, and we sure learn a lot in this group.

LSAC will assemble all your credentials. Almost ALL schools require that you use them. They also have transcript evaluation services. It really simplifies the admission process to most schools. FYI - Harvard has their own process.
LSAC is very automated once you have it all setup. Basically all your documents are sent to them, then they send them to the school. Essays are uploaded to LSAC on a school by school basis. Your LoRs are sent in advance as well as your school information. You can choose what LoRs to send to each school as you apply.
Once you understand the system (LSAC), it is very easy to use.

Thanks again. I do feel that I am getting there. I mean, that I am understanding a little bit more the process.
I still have questions, because I am a little bit confused with the LOR's. I guess I need to figure out the step by step of this part. This is the part that confuses me the most. :(
I am also really concerned about the LOR's, since it has passed more than a decade since I graduate, and I have not being in touch with my former professors, and It seems impossible to me to get a LOR from them, because they don't remember of me anymore. I also don't know what type of letter they would write to me, since they are not familiar with this type of request. :(
Anyway, I would love to hear you opinion on this matter. How to make sure that I get very great LOR?
Thanks a lot.

Sonia, for most Universities, if it has been 4-5 years since you obtained your Bachelor's degree, you can use professional letters. However, if you attended other Graduate Courses such as Pós graduação (Lato Sensu Graduate Studies) or Master's, you can ask a LOR from professors in these courses.
