Hello,

I hope this is the right place to place my qustion. If not, I apologize to admin and readers.

I'm about to finish law school in my country and idea of llm in US looks very tempting. I think that every investment in education is good investment, even if it doesn't pay off in a couple of years. The problem is:
Every information about admission standards is clear. But I don't know how important are my grades because they are not exceptional. I'm from small central european country and I think that US/UK law schools can't understand the concept of studying in my county. I don't have to go to lectures, exams are every two months and I study at home. I don't have any contact with my law school outside exam terms. There is no competition between students because we don't know each other(more than 1000 students get admited every year). There are no assignments, no obligations. Because we have crazy exam schedule(9 or 10 terms for 7 exams) it is imposible to chase grades. Only thing that matters is the length of collage education. It is normal(average) to spend 7 years in law school(for 4-year programe). And every student is trying hard to finish law as soon as possible. Would you chase grades in that circumstances? No. How to be among 10% of best students in my class? What class?
My plan is to find a job and work for a year before applying for llm. But do I have a chance for top 15 law school because my grades are upper middle class? I have work experience in real estate(work and study) and also small business for aditional income. Will that matter? Not for academic reasons, more as an argument for average grades.

Thanks!
