Hi douche_bag !

You're everywhere !
So, you also got into Yale ?

Stanford is my first choice too.
To which LLM did you apply ? I applied for the LLM in Law Science and Technology. That's definitely my first choice.

Rey,

That's the same program I applied to. I am interested in IP/media law because I am a rap musician and I would like to work as an attorney, or in the entourage, for rap musicians in Los Angeles. I think Stanford has the best reputation in California so its definately my first choice. Berkley and UCLA are 2nd and 3rd.

Hopefully, this experience will enable me to launch my own rap career in the US, a little further down the line.

Do you mind sharing some information about your credentials? I believe you must be the top of the tops!
What do you think the key is to get you those hottest admissions?
Thanks

I already got asked this question in another thread. Please permit me to copy and paste the answer for you below â¦. Minus the spelling mistakes I made in the original post!

--------

I got rejected from all these schools last year. This year when I applied I did it differently and things are looking bright so far.

If you donât get admitted, take a year of to think about why you didnât get in and use this fresh perspective to have a better application next year. For me, it was changing the focus of my personal statement from my career objectives (working in IP law, specifically the music industry and Rap) and focusing instead on my underprivileged upbringing.

I felt as if my unique ability to make magic flow from my pen would not lend credence to my story of learning to read and write by myself after finding a book in the Kalahari Desert. So I paid a home-schooled high school student $50 to write it for me. It read as if he had absolutely no formal writing education at all! I think it definitely helped.

Get work experience, walk the earth, find yourself, and approach your applications differently next year. Get some better letters of recommendation, maybe add a video or audiotape of yourself (I sent them my music CD) and find an original angle for your personal statement. I bet that 90% of applicants write vapid statements about how they want to do âhumanitarian lawâ, or âinternational human rightsâ etc ⦠I think people in admissions offices are sick to the stomach of reading this drivel day in, day out. They know all you want is that degree to hang on your wall so you can make a lot of dough!

You need something fresh! You need to stand out among all these people with super academic credentials. I certainly didnât have the grades, but I made sure that my application was different and memorable.

Hi,

There is a lot of activity on this forum.
Do you mean that you will place UCLA and Berkeley before HLS and Yale where you said you were accepted ?
Even if you want to get into a rap carreer, I would not advise to go for a LLM at UCLA when you received an acceptance letter from Harvard.
I know the choice is quite personal, but be careful that you do not regret it afterwards.
Why did you apply to Yale anyway... I thought that their LLM was designed for people who want to become law teacher...

Maybe we will see each other in Stanford ... Good luck !

Guyes, please tell me how can I show all my credentials if many universities do not require a CV to be attached.

In fact, are different awards at Moot Court Competitions (Jessup & others) sufficient credentials?

What else could be a credential to US universities.

In fact most law schools do require resumes: at least all the ones I applied to (Yale, Harvard, Columbia, Virginia, Michigan, and Cornell). Moot Court credentials is one thing they will look at, but also your grades, work experience, publications, extra-curricular activities, letters of recommendation, and your essays. They are looking for a "fit" between you and the school.

Douche bag is talking absolute nonsense. Whilst I agree that a 'world peace' like personal statement has been done to death and every Tom, Dick and Mellissa has straight As, I certainly don't think a Snoop recital is going to impress the Admissions Office at Yale much (and I'm black). So let's try other suggestions, shall we?!
