Hey Friends,
It's nice to join the Indian community here!!
Congratulations to all who are admitted and good luck to those who are on waiting list.
I got an admit from Cornell, Duke, USC and Fordham. I was inclined for Cornell but heard that Duke is good too. So now, not sure..
Any ideas please?

Congrats!
Though cornell is ivy league but duke is better than cornell. Any scholarship?
Where are you from?

Thanks.

Hey Congrats!

While Duke is highly sought after, I would give a lot of weigtage to the law school's location and how well it is known world wide, including India.. On this criterion alone I would have opted for Cornell.

But then again you have to also bear in mind the courses and the facult present at the law school for your area of specialisation.

Hope this helps!

Hey thanks. Working in corporate lawfirm in Mumbai for close to three years now.

Annu, I understand that youhave got thru Penn. Congrats!

GULC is highly regarded so far as tax and Intl-Law go.. how would rate the law school for business law??

Are you interested in business law? It is T-14 College and there is no harm in studying there. If you are not satisfied, you may take deferral this year.

Hi guys,

I am from India and practising for a corporate law firm for 3 years now. I have got admitted into NU and I am most likely to go there.

But at the same time I have also got an admission to Warwick for the ICGFR LLM course. And my sole interest is to specialise in corporate laws and thereafter try to stick on abroad either in the U.S. or U.K by just doing an LLM and not a J.D. I do know that NU is really famous for corporate law, but what would you say about the course at Warwick considering it is really specialised. I have also got an admit to queen mary.

So I have just one question:

Leaving aside the monetary aspect of an LLM, do global law firms value an LLM from the U.S more than a U.K. LLM, assuming for a moment that the LLM is not from the best in the business such as SLS, HLS, YLS, CLS (USA) and Oxford, Cambridge & LSE.(UK). Cause here for me its more of a comparison between good colleges in the U.S such as NU, USC, Boston, Virginia versus Warwick and Queen Marry.

Btw Congrats to all of you on your admissions and best of luck.

Thanks in advance.

Congrats!
You have been admitted to one of the finest institutions of the World. Where are you from in India? I am from Delhi and practicing as a lawyer.
To sum up answer to your question I would definitely say that US is the best worldwide as far as the quality of education is concern though it is a little expensive than other countries. If you have not cost consideration go ahead to the US. they will really polish you in a year.

Meetmeannu....thanks for the advice....Well I am from chennai....the reason I asked this question was becos I have friends who have done LLM's in the U.S and got placed in the U.K during the recessional period. So I was just wondering if U.K firms appreciates a U.S. LLM more than their own LLM's. Anyway u hav given me some clarity of thought. Thanks And congrats on ur admissions as well.

hey,everyone !!

congrats to all of you !!

I have received offers from GWU and UVa. But I don't know which one to pick???!!!
I want to do a concentration in IP. GWU though ranks well in the specialized law school rankings, its position dips fairly low in the "best law schools" rankings. However,UVa has a long standing top-10 ranking....Please help me decide between the two...

Ayu,

Its a question of how you approch the masters prog. As a practicing lawyer I view it more from the perspect of brand closely followed by the concentration, assuming that the top law schools have a fairly broad selection of courses and the faculty to back them up.

I would go for Univ of Virginia.
