I would say that GW is best, but outside of Washington DC GW does not have the clout of Columbia, which has excellent IP courses. Cardoza has an excellent program but is not a top ten school and many graduates have trouble finding jobs in this market, same with Franklin Pierce. The other schools fall between GW / Columbia and Cardoza/ Franklin Pierce.

I think GW has the best program overall, but I chose Columbia because I am in NY, want an outstanding IP LL.M., and want to go to a top ten school so I can compete in the job market.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I agree...but, if you are from oversea and will return after finishing your LLM, it does not matter, which uni you attended...therefore, GW has the best program, I think.

I do not know about overseas, so I defer to MAB79. Anyway, GW has an outstanding program so no going wrong there with an IP LL.M.

What about Fordham University? I have a sister who lives in NY, so it would be better for me to go a university in NY.

Fordham is a very good school. I know lots of people working in big IP firms who graduated from there. I would rate it above Cardoza based on its alumni networking base. This opinion is based on living in NY, so if you are not planning to stay in NY I cannot weigh the school as compared to Cardoza.

I am interested in the IP LL.M too, so I applied to Fordham, USF, Stanford (.....), Berkeley and will be applying to GW and BU. I have also applied to some schools with general LL.M just to make sure, since I am not quite certain whether it is a good idea to have a specialized degree or a general from a better school. I am still thinking Santa Clara, since it is probably not the wisest choice if you are thinking of working in the States afterwards. USF is probably my "in-case-everything-else-fails" choice (although I have started doubting that - I recently started hearing good things about the IP program). I guess it all comes down to where you want to work afterwards.

Agreed, it all comes down to where you want to practice in the future. I am going to Columbia and want to stay in NY.

Hi TOTA-- I am in quite the same case with you. i applied Stanford, berkeley, USF, Hasting, and still considering Santa Clara - all in CA because my family is there. Why did you mention it's not wise to go to Santa Clara if wanting to stay in US? - especially in CA?
