JD after LL.M.

shreya

Hi

I am a 2011 graduate of Harvard law school LL.M. program. I am thinking of doing a JD here. I wanted to know if any of the law schools here will set off the LL.M. year against one of the JD years?

The answer to your question is to submit your LLM transcript to the law schools you want to apply.

Due to the nature of the LLM I very much doubt they will wave all courses. If you have taken courses that are part of the JD curriculum such as Environmental law, Contracts or Torts then I would imagine that it would be waved. Again this will also depend if these courses were taken together with the JD class or were specially designed for LLM students. If its the latter I very much doubt that it will be waved.

No. I myself followed this course of study and law schools will not (ordinarily at least) grant you any advanced standing. You will need to add another 3 years of law school. Best.
