I am willing to help students

Hi people,

I am currently a LLM grad at Franklin Pierce Center of IP,USA.I know many of you might have many questions with regard to many aspects of the LLM program.I am willing to help people applying to any law school in US.I had also done a huge level of cost analysis and research before taking decisions so hence I will help with admission process,LSAC or doubts.

I am not representing any university and am just offering to help through this portal as a LLMGuide past user :)

Hi,

I have been granted admission to LLM programs in International public law at George Washington University DC, GeorgeTown University Law centre DC, Emory University at Atlanta and finally at University of Washington Seattle for their LLM Sustainable International development program. Except Emory & UW I have no scholarship offer. I am interested to pursue a career in Human Rights, Refugee rights, Armed Conflict resolution, Dispute Resolution and would like to work with UN organizations, Large Non Profits or working with the govts in the above fields. I am seeking your assistance in making a decision as which of these institutes do i choose to attend finally. Thanks in Advance.

Hey- thank you for offering help!

I received a few admits from the below school, can you please rate which is best for the IP and post-LLM job market?
1. Harvard (expecting)2. University of New Hampshire - Franklin Law School (Admitted)3. Boston University (Admitted)4. Duke University (Admitted)5. George Washington University (Admitted)
I'm confused about which will be the best in class for Intellectual Property Law and which has a better opportunity in the US post-LLM?
Thank you!

Hi, sruthisrinivasan.

I am currently having a hard time deciding between school because of the financial aspect. I might get a job in US or come back to my country(asia) after LLM. Is T14+Ivy league worth the whole tuition?

My offers are like this:

T20 School with $35,000 scholarship
vs
Cornell (its prestige very well known in my country) with no scholarship

I tried to negotiate the scholarship with Cornell but they told me they don't negotiate at all(sad). $35,000 is lot of money for me but if you think about it I can save this money in a year when I work. I change my mind several times in a day.

Any advise? Thanks in advance!

Brand Name may be everything and opens a door of opportunities but it is not everything. First thing first. Some law schools which are not IVY leagues are also good. If you could find other funding sources by the time, you should go to Cornell.

However, it should not bother or affect your living much. What I mean is that if you do not have to work hard for 10 years like this to repay your loan, you should opt for Cornell.

Being on a scholarship also looks good on your CV. T14 and T20 may not be THAT different. It may be different case if you are admitted to Yale, Harvard, or Stanford. If I were you, I will go to T20 with a scholarship. For me, money comes first. I would not want to be struggle in a foreign country. With that amount, I could complement with a comfortable life.

Additionally, if you choose to go to T20 law schools, I'd recommend you network with lots of people. It is possible that you may find your future job through a referral process or at alumnus' firms, in case you are open to working abroad. There is also opportunities at Cornell too.

If your T20 locates in big cities like Chicago, New York, or even LA, I would choose T20 over Cornell for the sake of connections with law firms.
