Hi everyone !
I have been admitted by various law schools in the U.S, and I'm hesitating between Cardozo and Washington University in St.Louis (WUSL), in my situation tuition fees would be similar.
I want to be part of an LL.M program with a concentration in Business Law, both schools other that with slightly different classes, but I think I would like both of the programs.
My main hesitation is regarding the alumni network and reputation of both schools. I know that WUSL has a better rank in rankings in comparison of Cardozo (though this is not completely relevant since these rankings are for J.Ds), and has an excellent reputation when it comes to their "domestic candidates". At the same time, Cardozo would give me the opportunity to be in NYC, with the networking opportunities that comes with this location. I also noticed that many LL.M candidates seems to get externships and field clinics opportunities, and the Cardozo alumni network appears to be really good. I ideally would like to pass the NY Bar, and get practical experience while in the U.S.
Feel free to reply to my comment if you heard anything about the reputation of both programs, and the outcomes for LL.M alumni.
Thank you ! :)
I think it all depends on your goals post-LLM! If you want to stay and pass the NY bar, I would probably attend Cardozo. Like you said, it will give you the opportunity to gain practical experience in the area you eventually want to practice in while you’re still in school. Regarding rankings, some lower-ranked schools carry more weight locally (for example Cardozo in NYC).
