It seems that HLS always send out all decisions on March 21.
Harvard 2012 decision

According to Harvard, you should let them know if you are facing a deadline from another law school. So I did it. In very short time, they got back to me saying that Harvard cannot accelerate its admission process, and thus I should ask the other law schools for an extension of the deadline... Conclusion: don't waste your time! Harvard won't render an expedited decision.

I am not sure about this. Although I don't know anyone personally who has been granted an expedite decision, I think, Harvard will actually do their best and sometimes give some indications. They would never offer the possibility of an expedite decision (on their faq/webpage), if not doing this actually. I think they may receive probably 20-30 e-mails/day and answer some of them with an expedite decision.

@4thquarter You wrote what I was thinking of. Now what would be the criterion for Harvard to decide which people deserve "indications" and which people should wait a little longer and receive the results with everybody else?
Does Harvard only give people positive indications? And if so, should you freak out after receiving their "wait and receive your results with everybody else"?

I think it depends on wheater the graduate adimission committee already has reviewed the corresponding application. I guess they rate every application according to their (secret) key. If someone asks for an expedite decision, they will answer only positively, if the result of their internal evaluation is extremely high and therefore it is somehow clear, that the applicant will be invited later.

hey got a comment on the 'track status' facility asking me to send updated transcripts..

Has anyone else made a request for an early decision by HLS? Please share your experiences.

Thinking about it since I face other deadlines in March, but I'm not sure whether it's a smart move. I believe MJON posted a reply to this thread, saying that HLS folks did not seem too pressed to speed up the decision-making process...Anyone else?

I don't think they are going to help you unless you get some substantial scholarship from other school.

@FYA22: when I asked Harvard for an expedited decision, I let them know that Columbia had offered me a half-tuition waiver, which I think is a ´substantial scholarship´. Yet, they refused to speed-up the process.
Anyway, good luck everybody!!! =)

Hey MJON. First of all, congratulations on the generous tuition-waiver from Columbia. Well done!
I am sorry to hear Harvard was not willing to expedite their treatment of your application. I recall similar stories from this board from earlier years. It seems, Harvard is very rarely willing to expedite treatment of applications. Perhaps even less so, when they still have a month to go until releasing their regular decisions (from what I have read, Harvard seems to release their decisions on 20 or 21 March or shortly after that date), although I am no expert on the subject.
I hope you do not mind if I ask, what deadline Columbia gave you to submit your final answer? Also, since Columbia offered you this tuition-waiwer, do they request that you withdraw your other applications or do you have the possibility of paying the 500$ deposit and later backing out of Columbia if you choose another school (and thereby of course losing your 500$)? Finally, has Columbia indicated that they are willing to extend their deadline?
Sorry about all of these questions, but some of us might, hopefully, be lucky enough, at a later stage, to face a similar dilemma as you do now ;)
Good luck with your decision!

I really hope they send out decisions on 19th (monday), since I have another deadline ending then (and they refused giving me an expedite decision)...

I am sure all of us have good enough credentials to be considered by the Big Schools or give them a reason to consider us. I am sure all off us will do fine with or without it.
As for me I know one thing; I will be great without an Harvard LLM/any other big school and with an Harvard LLM I will be incomparable and stupendous.
Best of Luck to all.
