Hi,
I'm thinking of applying to do an LLM in Fordham Uni. But I just wanted to have opinions on whether they offer competitive LLMs.
In fact I would rather had applied to NYU, but I couldn't make it by the deadline. Do you think it is worth it to try it anyway?
Please provide some guidance to a foreigner lost in your country !!
Many thanks

Hi Redios,
I've talked to some colleagues in NY - one of them a Fordham student - and according to them Fordham's LL.M. has a very practical approach. I actually applied to their Banking LL.M., I found the program really interesting but I am not familiar with their reputation in the US.

I can't really speak from experience so I could be wrong. Someone has advised me, though, that the location of a university does matter sometimes. So if it is a reputable school (even if not one of the "top ranked" like NYU, but still good), and located in a big city where you may want to work (in this case, NYC), then it might not be such a bad idea to apply.
I hope others correct me here if I'm wrong about it.

From Wikipedia:

According to US News and World Report, Fordham Law is a top-tier law school, with a 2008 ranking of 25.[3] Its average of 25th and 75th percentile LSAT score is tied for 15th place with UCLA and USC at 165.5. It is the highest-ranked law school in New York state with an evening program.
According to the 2006 AmLaw 100 database from the American Lawyer, Fordham is 9th in placement of graduates into the top 50 firms, 8th in placement for the top 25 firms, and 7th for the top ten firms. (Law school graduates at top firms identified through Martindale Hubbell Listings, All database of LexisNexis, identifying every attorney from any of top firms who graduated from a particular law school).

Can't be too bad!

Thank you for your opinions.
Actually I'm more concerned with the fact that apparently it is extremely difficult for a foreign lawyer to find a job in NY after LLM and even passing the bar. And I'm not that sure whether an LLM from Fordham would be appreciated back in Europe. As an example I must recognice that I didn't know Fordham till I arrived to NY (I'm from Spain).
Any advice regarding to the application of Fordham LLM in Europe?
Many thanx

It is not "extremely difficult" for a foreign lawyer to find job in USA after LL.M. If you succeed in passing the NY Bar exam, which you are entitled to appear after 20 credit hours study in ABA approved law school in USA, like Fordham, there is no dearth of opportunities.

Well, your post is very encouraging, but indeed what I heard is that it's not easy at all, specially if english is not your first language.
That's why I'm concerned with the fact that Fordham is a law school not well known in Europe.
It would be very useful if there was any former student of Fordham around who could share his experience
